Nena Sanado - Aspiring Writer Nena Sanado is an aspiring writer who was born in the Philippines in a delightful fishing village at a time when there was no electricity and when life was very different. This quaint village holds many colourful and exciting memories of growing up in a place of tranquillity and relative ease. Nena has begun writing her life journal and intends it to be published.
Nena was raised in a traditional large Philippino family with all the support and love that the youngest always receives. She has memories of a sheltered and great childhood with strong values and deep love, which have permeated the rest of her life. Her father was a prawn fisherman who had transformed a mangrove into a prawn farm to support his family. Though Nena's early years were stable, her adult years were not. As she was growing up things changed and political instability forced Nena to leave the Philippines for Australia.
Through her father Nena had acquired skills in aguaculture operation and business management. The property the family had owned in Mindanao(Southern Philippines) had engaged in extensive prawn production methods and prepared her well. She learnt a great deal about harvesting of the tiger prawn that was exported to Japan. In the 1980's Nena and her husband upgraded their skills through the South East Asian Development Centre - a recognised international fishery training centre at Tigbauan Iloilo City Philippines. This training became the stepping stones for her future endeavours in Australia.
Nena is a highly skilled woman who also has a disability. She looks forward to dedicating her writing to her parents and the family that gave her the memories she holds dear and the values that have helped her survive. Nena Sanado is committed to sharing her story. |
