Gay Liddington -Writer/Poet/Performer/Presenter
Gay Liddington is a writer and creative performer who presently lives in Maleny. Her poetry and stories create a kaleidoscope of words that span thirty years. She promotes her writing through her public presentations and her performances. Her dynamic and embracing character motivates and moves her audiences.

| In 2000, Gay was encouraged to publish a book Beyond Happily Ever After - after being asked repeatedly for copies of the poems she had presented in performance. A book of short stories and poems entitled Woman to Woman soon followed. The most recent of Gay's publications is an inspiring story, The Treasure Chest - Message from an Angel. Gay says, 'This story came through me, not from me. It began as a story I shared with those in need of encouragement and came into print some time later, after I told my story over the phone to a woman I had not met. She was undergoing treatment for cancer and told me of her journey. After hearing the tale she cried and asked for a copy. |

I told her that it was not written down - she implored me to do so. I launched this book in 2007 with sell-out success on a local scale.'
The Treasure Chest is a short story, the book 130 x 130mm in size at $20. It comes packaged in an organza bag with 'treasures' and affirmation card.

2007: Seminar "Woman Spirit Speaks" to launch The Treasure Chest. Feedback: "I spent a couple of hours listening to three strong women giving their presentations and, for reasons I cannot pin down, was unmoved; then along came a classy lady who, in one short performance, brought me to tears. 2003/05: Writer/performer: Comedy Review for Westpac Cancer Walk-a-thon; We Won't Shop There street theatre (protest against Woolworths building in Maleny).
2002: Theatrical/Program Director: Compassion event (raising awareness about the plight of refugees); Writer/director/performer of "Compassion" drama and street theatre.
2001: Dare to Dream - writer/director/performer in presentation representing Caloundra City Council at Woodford Folk Festival; Performed in Funny Poets Live at Celtic Tearooms, Maleny (CD "Funny Poets Live")
Other: Awarded life membership - Mackay Writers Group; Poem Driftwood is cast in bronze and displayed in the Mackay city heart; Prize winning poems and short stories published in anthologies; Poetry and character performances at venues including Woodford Folk Festival, Mackay Arts Festival, Women Out Front community concert, Upfront Club & Celtic Tearooms (Maleny);
Gay Liddington is also creator/presenter of creative writing workshops including "Writing with Nature" - Blue Mountains Creative Weekend and "Exploring Your Creative Self through Writing" - Dept of Veteran Affairs Career Expo.
